Well, it looks like good building weather again. Blowing a gale here today, so I started cutting wood for the Flamingo. It has eveything I like: a gull wing, spoilers... and a wheel Very Happy

I would say it is a Petrel on the picture in your link and not a Flamingo!

Harold, I think that is a photo of Graham Saw's Petrel. The two gliders do look similar, but since Belair in the UK produced a kit for the Petrel, there are a lot of them about over here...!

I'm fond of the Petrel. My mini 1/10 flies so good, I think I'm gonna build a bigger one. I've thought about painting it blue with a white nose, and then I see your photos, great !!

Nice project, the Flamingo attracted my interest when i discovered Martin Simons' books ; The same as you,this glider has everything I like !

Then, the wing joiner box: Two 14mm Graupner brass boxes set for the dihedral and with the boxes crossing over each other to get the maximum length

The completed box is temporarily offered up to the fuselage

Time to make up the elevator...

The elevator is made slightly larger than the tailplane and then sanded to match it exactly...

Here the trailing edges are sanded down...

Before glueing on the lower CTP sheeting, the rudder cable guides must be set up...

Balsa on the inside helps the cyano to grip the guide cable...

Now the sheeting can continue... (by the way, I consider the blood on the fuselage to be good luck. I have bled over most of my models Very Happy

I have modified my system slightly: now, I make the inside square brass tube 2 sizes smaller than the outside one. This makes setting up much easier and there is less possibilty of the system binding or sticking...

No Walter, I have no other useful information. This time I am producing a plan for the Flamingo, which will be published by Traplet, probably sometime early next year. There will be a canopy available and also a kit of CNC cut parts...
