Bonjour a tous,
Today I made the internal rigging of the tailboom. On the website of Paolo Severin is a method described to make the inetrnal rigging, which is very usefull. When I visited the Aviodrome I could see how Fokker does this on his "Spin", his first aircraft,
He made his own "bushes, tubes?" from wire and I tried to do the same.
I wrapped 0.5 steel wire around a core of 1mm steel in a drill.
cut it in short "bushes"
Put it under tension when I put it through the other hole..
fold it around and put the bush on it
Sometimes it was hard to reach....
The tailboom became incrideble stiff, I hope not to stiff, when I touch a wire accidentally it sounds like a guitar
some detail;
to be continued,
Vincent. |

Merci Johannes for the nice comments!
I tried to put all the rc components out of sight under the seats and more or less demountable. Without ;
and with the rc components/ seat supporting structure
The steering stick and rudder pedals ready for mounting;
The springs are only to keep the wires straight, its all not functional
The backrest of the seats covered with diacov and painted with humbrol
The cushion was made from 3mm balsa covered with leather from an old purse (nice thin leather)
and temporarely in place
Now I have to make a pilot and a passenger and then I can make the harnesses.
To be continued,
Vincent |

Hello everyone,
First, thankyou Sebastian and Harold for your comments! It took some time because I had a bike accident followed by influenza, it took some time!
I went on putting the grabrails?? and wingskids at the wings. I tried to avoid Philips screws, so I used M2 bolts and nuts
A small pin went through the skid at the front end to avoid rotation, I hope its flexible enough not to break.
The grabrails are fastened with a M3 bolt through the maingirder in the front and a screw at the rear.
In the meantime I worried myself how to transport the whole lot.
There are 8 cables per side and kinks (coudes?) are a real danger. It is just a sailingboat with the mast lowered. So after lots of thinking I came up with some "helpthings"
Spruce 8 X 4 mm with pins and rubberbands do the trick, I hope.
Flexible rigging cables, flexible steering cables and rigid rigging, hopefully it will make some noise when flying
With some luck the tailplanes fitted on top
The remaining vertical tailplanes go with the wings.
All the small parts well protected!
Its almost ready, I am working on the pilot and passenger , the anemometer is only just on the drawing board!
to be continued,
Vincent |

Absolut Grossartig!!!
Christian |

Hello everyone,
I started with the pilot figures, got a drawing and scaled it down to 1: 5, glued it on card to make templates
, cut them out in 10 mm balsa, which I doubled to get more or less the right thickness
For the knees and elbows I used robart 3.5 mm hinges
The hips and shoulders should rotate in all directions, so I made joints with double elastic band.
To get the right amount of freedom in articulation, I rounded the inside of the joints.
You can just see the place where I put a pin (red arrow), it goes through the middle of the big hole, so the elastic band goes round the pin. I use a double bended steel wire to get the elastic cord in place
When the clothing is finished, I will put a knot in it! The pilot was a bit thin, so I glued an extra 5mm balsa on his chest.
To see if they fit I compared it with the real thing:
I also doubled th Diacov on the nacelle, to make it a bit less transparant.
This picture, which I recently found, gives a good idea of the harness he used
The points where the hip belt is attached is just visible
On this photo you can also see how the shoulder belt is positioned. The belt itself is very broad, scaled down I guessed about 14mm. I could get 14mm wide, black elastic band, so that problem was solved. I made the anchoring plates from 0.5 mm aluminium (from a can)
, made a jig from steel plate. A lot of plates, sprayed white.
Bolted with M2 just behind the seats ( the shoulder belts have each one point, not on this photo)
I had to take this unit out again
The buckles and the belts secured with a clip
The pilot and passenger went to my sister Hans who is going to make the clothes (I can't wait!!)
Quite unexpected I started with the heads, made from super sculpey. tI tried to make the pilot look like Anthony Fokker
, I altered him a bit and made the passenger, which looked a bit less optimistic
Both will be wearing caps, so the ears will be covered.
The heads are baked, but not yet painted, next thing to do!
Will be continued,
Vincent |

Bonjour a tous,
Thanks very much Fotor, Philippe, Dominique and Michel for your encouraging comments!
Just when I more or less finished the heads I found a very useful "class" on youtube how to model heads in sculpey clay, worth to take a look at!

Hello everyone,
The FG-2 was only equipped with the Wilhelm Morrell anemometer, very well described by Vincent Becancon in his article about the Mira 3.
Here just visible on the right diagonal strut.
I gave my friend ADRI (who already made the rib templates and all the small ply stuff for the ribs) the plans and asked him if he thought 3D printing was an option. He texted me; just wait!
I had a lucky day! After some time the photo's came in!
So ADRI made this anomemeter completely!!
(I only painted it)
The dial is the download of the Mira 3
I was very pleased with his great effort!!
Now I went on,I only had to make the mounting thing and paint it (Humbrol matt grey)
A small video,
https://youtu.be/3INhTQuJVMk
Thank you very much Adri, this was a tricky thing to make!! and I am very pleased with it!!
To be continued,
Vincent

Hello everyone,
Next is the painting of the heads, difficult to get it more or less right...
From my wife I borrowed acrylics, skin colour and burnt sienna. Nice thing is you can mix it on a plate and you can speed up the drying proces with a simple hair drier, so you can quickly find out if the colour is right.
first coat; left is bare sculpey, right has the base colour.
Next thing is adding shades
bit to much, correcting it again
Looks stil a bit too much, but I'll wait with changing that, till the moment the figures are complete with clothes etc.
Next thing is unknown to me. On this photo there is a very distinct black line which holds the cloth. It looks a bit temporarely, but nice to model it!
It starts at the nose and goes round the cockpit aperture.
I like to make holes with some heat, so I made from a pin a very small heat thing wrapped around my soldering iron to make all the small holes.
It took some time with needle and thread.
How farther I got in the nose, the more difficult it went and the last three stitches were impossible.
I cheated a bit;
wrapped thread round, put thin superglue on it and cut away the half loops
Glued the half loops through the holes
Now the interior is almost finished, I closed the bottom with diacov
to be continued,
Vincent
