The main airframe is now built, so things slow down a bit as the more detailed work needs to be done...
The basic, unshaped aileron is hinged with Robart hinges and attached to the wing...
Now the aileron is sanded to fit the wing...
Today, the aileron has been fitted out with all the detail work, and the wing tip shroud finished off...
The servo and linkage are also fitted in...
Then I went flying with the Dart 17...

I don't know the weight so far, Fred, but I expect it to end up very similar to the Minimoa at 11-12kgs...

This is the bit I've been putting off until last...the airbrakes!
To make sure they close properly in flight my airbrakes are to be spring-loaded
Cutting out the ribs for the airbrake assembly
Now they are glued into the wing
Finishing off the bottom sheeting
It works
The wings are now just about complete. Fred, the model weighs 20lbs (9Kg) at this stage, that is with some ballast built in the nose. The CG is on the spar at the moment

Working at the rear end again... this is the fairing for the fin/tailplane
The tailplane is now properly sorted out, and since this photo was taken, all the flying surfaces have been covered with Natural Solartex...

Hi Chris ,
What kind of solution do you have implemented to be sure no weakness
appears on the base of tail due to the notch? Is there any additional support inside the tail? I am interessting about that for a futur scale plane. In that case, I am little bit concerned regarding the the landing impact.

Pat, I was surprised when I removed the 2mm balsa sheeting how strong the tailplane still was. (The brick weighs 2Kgs!)
The tailplane rear spar is made from 6mm hard balsa and is reinforced with 6mm triangular section to make the hollow for the elevator leading edge. Into this are some quite large holes for the hinge dowels, but of course the elevator leading edge adds strength too once it is fixed into place... The MG19a is not an aerobatic machine, so I think it would take a lot of speed or a very heavy landing to break it...

The whole airframe is covered in Solartex
Al the 'Tex joins are sprayed with 2-pack primer in order to lose them

Still deep into the painting process...
The wings have been sprayed with 2 coats of 2K lacquer and are now being rubbed down wet with 600grit paper, ready for the next application of lacquer...
The tail end is almost completed...
These are some of the parts to go into the cockpit, nearly 600gms

Today, the Steinadler is rigged for the 1st time since painting...
Vincent, oui, the paint is sprayed on (That is my profession)
Paul, I use 3M Fine Line tape for masking the trim colours, but it is essential to ensure that the Solartex weave is filled enough with the 1st coats of paint to prevent the trim colour 'bleeding' under the tape...
Pat, I am impatient too, and a little scared
